Washing machines (sinks) are complex devices (installations) for disinfection of gastroscopes, colonoscopes, bronchoscopes and other flexible endoscopes in the so-called clean (conditionally clean) area of the room for treatment and disinfection in the endoscopic department, or in the central sterilization department (CSO).

In such a washing machine, disinfection of flexible endoscopes is carried out for non-sterile interventions, that is, for studies of cavities that normally contain their own microflora through natural pathways.

Washing disinfecting machines are designed specifically for the stage of high-level double disinfection in the conditionally clean zone of the sterilization room. That is, endoscopes get into the washing machine after preliminary (in the endoscopy room) and final cleaning (in the dirty area of the washing room). With proper execution of all operations of the stages of preliminary and final cleaning, the endoscopes in the sink no longer contain large (and small) foreign particles, contaminants, and are checked for defects.

The main task of washing machines is to efficiently disinfect all external and internal surfaces of the flexible endoscope, including all channels, cavities and surfaces that were in contact with the patient's tissues and the environment, to prepare the endoscope for storage or reuse.
